Hyderabad Metro Rail Urban Integration – Hyderabad, India

Hyderabad is the capital city of Telangana, India. It is a growing city nearing of 7 million people. The city has been facing a rapid growth in population as people migrate to this urban core seeking job opportunities and a future for families. Hyderabad Metro Rail is a key infrastructure project, undertaken by the State Government, to address one of the critical traffic congestion and mobility issues throughout the city. International Engineer and Construction Firm, Larsen & Toubro have been commissioned for the construction of the Hyderbad Metro Rail. UDP International was engaged in an urban design and place making role to identify urban integration strategies for the Hyderabad Metro Rail system. The proposal aimed to maximize catchment for the metro by providing exits at strategic locations to make it more accessible while ensuring that the public realm is enhanced to improve the quality of life of the people.
