Dr. Sujata S. Govada is an award-winning, qualified urban designer, certified urban planner and registered architect in India with over 30 years of experience working on a diverse range of projects in Hong Kong, the region and beyond. Having been the driving force in winning the firm over 12 major design and planning awards, Dr. Govada has gained a reputation in delivering innovative and sensitive solutions of lasting value, and as a thought leader in shaping sustainable and livable communities and cities around the globe.

Dr. Govada is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Architecture at the Chinese University of Hong Kong; she teaches in the new Master’s of Science Program in Urban Design that she help set up. Prior to this, Dr. Govada was a part-time Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong where she taught several courses and workshops in the Master of Urban Planning Program; she also taught and provided thesis supervision in the Master of Urban Design Program at the Department of Urban Planning and Design. Dr. Govada is a recipient of several merit and honor awards/scholarships. She received her Bachelor’s of Architecture with distinction from JNTU in India, and received her Master’s of Architecture in Urban Design and PhD in Environmental Design & Planning with high honours from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Dr. Govada is a registered architect and lifetime member of the Council of Architects in India. Recently, she has been appointed as a Global Trustee for the Urban Land Institute and she also serves as an Executive Council member for the ULI in North Asia and is currently the President of the Hong Kong Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Dr. Govada is also a Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Planners and the American Institute of Certified Planners; a Founding Member and past Vice President (International Relations) of the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design that she helped set up and is also a representative of the Harbour Commission. She is currently working on strategic, master planning, sustainable development, planning studies and urban research projects in Hong Kong China, India, Philippines, USA and beyond. We are Innovative by Design: leveraging award-winning and sustainable urban design and planning within a small global office as a vehicle to shape better cities.
