Hyderabad is the capital city of Telangana, India, and is a growing city with over 8 million population. The city has been facing rapid growth in population as people from the rural areas migrate to the city seeking job opportunities and a future for their families. Hyderabad Metro Rail is a key infrastructure project that was undertaken by the then State Government of Andhra Pradesh to address critical traffic congestion and mobility issues throughout the city. Larsen & Toubro was commissioned for the construction of the Hyderabad Metro Rail, a key piece of the city’s infrastructure.

UDP International played an important role in doing the first urban integration project for Panjagutta station as a demonstration for future station integration projects. Using an urban design and place-making approach UDP International identified urban integration strategies and developed an infrastructure urban integration plan for the Panjagutta Station of the Hyderabad Metro Rail system. The proposal aimed to maximize catchment for the metro by providing exits at strategic locations and make the transit station more accessible while ensuring the enhancement of the public realm, ultimately improving the quality of life of the people of Hyderabad.
